The Dad Shuffle is universal. My dad does it when my little nephew is getting too close to the grill. My brother-in-law does it when my nephew is about to fall off the swing.
It’s what keeps generations of men together.
Its close cousin is the mom shuffle at the swimming pool. This is when the mom sees that the 10-year-old brother is trying to drown his eight-year-old sister so she runs, although cautiously because it’s a swimming pool, to stop the madness.
That is an interesting point. If I saw a grown man absolutely booking it I would be concerned that there was a true emergency like a child choking, someone has literally caught on fire, etc.
The shuffle I think is more meant for things like “stop wrestling with your little sister. She’s two and you are five.” Or “ That sparkler is a lot more sparkly than we expected. Let me get you a new one.”
I find the Lauren Southern Andrew Tate story believable because it involves Southern being very stupid/irresponsible and Tate committing sexual assault. Completely on-brand for both. Terrible timing on her part to drop it this late, though. Tate has already fallen far and my experience has been that most people already weren't willing to defend him anymore.
I also question why she is writing a whole book that might as well be titled "I'm a Stupid Whore." Not to diminish some of the things she's been through, but that's how people will read it. Imagine how much shit her kid is already going to take because of who his mother is, and she's pouring gasoline on that fire. She is (probably) the one woman in existence that got raped by Andrew Tate and then slept with fucking Destiny. Does she need money that badly for some reason? Because the only other reason that I can think of, is that she actually just has to be the center of attention, for who knows what reason (mental illness I guess).
I predict Epstein is a lot of performative outrage. Is anyone really going to do anything differently because of it? Going to not vote red in the midterms? Not vote for JD Vance in '28? Stop supporting the Trump administration and become a consistent critic of it, because he didn't release the Epstein files? I doubt it. Matt Walsh will forget and move on in a couple of weeks. Tiresome.
I suppose a lot of people embrace far right aesthetics specifically in reaction to the left, and so it's very difficult for them to be right wing but also deal with "optics" since they're stuck in a left-framed discourse.
I've long advocated for respectable tad-boring jumper (sweater) marches for lads in the UK. Nice crew cuts. Wholesome songs and chants. Extreme political views.
I think the right needs to make its own discursive space. The Tea Party almost did this once with the "protest mom" vibe.
The right needs to stop jerking off over being edgy, and stand up into responsibility/trustworthy vibe.
You should definitely read your Gibbon. Comparing Gibbon's "Decline and Fall" to nearly anything I've read from the modern age makes me wonder if people, or at least educated people, were just smarter in the 1700s.
I don't think they were smarter, just that there were less distractions from both the writer and the reader that allowed you to completely engage with the topic, full bore. And European gentlemen of that era could develop mastery of a subject because they were gentlemen, and that cultural milieu allowed a man like Gibbon to be Gibbon. And the state of primary documents was so limited you could master them.
Imagine Gibbon being dropped into a modern world with almost limitless digital information from archives, archaeology, and science he never imagined and he'd never publish anything because he's lose himself in endless research and information velocity would render his first volume out of date before the last was published. In Gibbon's day, Pompeii was just beginning to be excavated- now we are reading carbonized scrolls from there.
I watched a tour of a private school in England last weekend. The kids were learning history, logic, and rhetoric. I've never felt dumber than I did watching 10-year-olds correctly answer the questions the teachers were asking.
That "49ers linebacker" is an offensive guard (close enough!), and being an undrafted rookie out of mighty Colorado State, it's unlikely he'll ever make a roster.
An idea that has been on my mind recently is that gen AI might explode the blackmail pedo system due to elite pedos having the ability to break away from control by saying that their compromising material is “just AI”.
These are people sociopathic enough to rape kids for political and financial power, kept from killing each other only by blackmail material. What the fuck happens when they all collectively realize they can do whatever they want without consequences?
Shit could get very, very spicy far quicker than seems possible. The second someone successfully beats pedo allegations via claiming its AI all hell could break loose.
I agree with you that its kind if like MAD. However, this is like if everyone, not just states but every citizen, gets a nuke. Some dipshit is gonna set it off and it will probably not be someone all that important. Then its off to the races and we will need to pack our SPF 1,000,000.
Nonproliferation was a huge component of the cold war. Its a lot easier to stop MAD if there are only a dozen players. When its millions of people able to use it only raw deterrence / raw force are left and those both suck.
Judgement day is coming and Skynet is gonna fortnite dance on us.
Yeah but at the same time, the minute they cross that bridge, their ability to manipulate normies through the media is finished. And the primary mechanism for guys like Epstein to enforce discipline amongst political elites is now completely worthless. So maybe it's not the win we want, but it might be the win we need.
So I hate old people but I don’t think raising the retirement age is a good idea.
It’s not just that people with real jobs can’t physically do them at 70. It’s that people with desk jobs shouldn’t be doing them at 70. They should be getting out if the way so that smart dynamic young people can take their management positions and steer their companies in better directions.
Have you ever met a 70 year old manager that is leading cutting edge innovation? Yeah, that’s right. They are all just waiting waiting out the clock and trying not to rich the boat. Do we really want them doing that for a few more years while holding back the up and comers.
The real problem is that:
1) people live to long
2) retirement benefits are too rich
Now I think we should just Logan’s run 80 year olds or whatever, but bottom line I’d rather have lower benefits or benefits that end at a certain age then keep pushing up the retirement age. Those years at the end of life are worthless and you’re better off dead. Your late 60s are a time when you could be living a real life.
I made sure to let my friend know he was designated gay buddy today. It’s not fair that I’m always the DGB. Psh!
I was trying to understand REN’s argument against losers in the Right. I’m not sure why he’s trying to use an analogy from an essay he hasn’t read to make an oblique illustration of one angle of an idea he has about nerds in his camp. Dude, people are gonna shill, gonna try to be influencers, gonna try to get attention (see Lauren Southern—yikes!). I’m not sure it’s political, which he seems to admit at some level. I think it’s time REN get back to basics and discuss Genghis Khan’s superior t-levels despite the constant horseback riding crushing his testicles.
Similar to the HB1 debate but even less relevant, the Epstein thing is gonna fizzle away as it should. For what it’s worth, I think my buddy on the recent Everyman podcast has the best theory of what was going on. The guy was a tool for diplomacy and the world elites are screwed up people. It was an operation keeping the world secure. And now he’s dead so it doesn’t really matter anymore.
The right isn’t split over this, the interlopers have been exposed and are now shouting into the void. The right is all in agreement on what’s going on. Weird how many of the “interlopers” calling you low-IQ aren’t white, aren’t Christian, and often aren’t American. Imagine thinking you can sell pedophilia to the conservative American base 😂
The pendulum does seem to be swinging back toward Epstein trutherism, and for good reasons, but I also understand why some might say it's important to let Trump cook, that we shouldn't lose confidence so easily.
I get a lot of Substack notifications, but NRP is the only one I check immediately

I’m in my 40’s and still run sub-7 minute miles, but I’m not going to scare the women and children by going into a full sprint.
When the kid wanders off or gets too close to the grill, you Dad Shuffle like a man.
That is an interesting point. If I saw a grown man absolutely booking it I would be concerned that there was a true emergency like a child choking, someone has literally caught on fire, etc.

Did I miss the dad shuffle link? Can you share it?
No I will not as it is in the post.

Still an absolute unit

@Mark Bisone had a post about this this week
It will get spicy, alright. But it will also open up opportunities for action like we have never seen.

Late-sixties are “good days - bad days” time. Kinda like my late 20’s. Thanks for the hate! We have that in common 😎

Don’t kill yourself over this. He didn’t.
Nice to see Linkola Mindset is still alive and hasn't changed much.
He was one of the people who originally got me interested in twitter, along with JBurtonXP, BAP and a few others.

Those people are fine, I’m talking about the “pedophile is aristocratic/caring about Epstein is low IQ” crowd
RAHHH
