#183. World War II: 2
Welcome to the NRP. We are curating the best of those extremely-online extremists known as the "New Right."
đ§”Threads of the Week đ§”
> The Battle of the Bulge. Stalingrad. These rumbles were a bit contentious, but can they compare to the bloody conflict currently playing out across right wing Twitter? Martyrmade ignited this war by appearing on Tucker with some pretty reasonable and not exactly new criticisms of Winston Churchill as part of a bigger argument that there are certain aspects of Americaâs history that youâre just not allowed to talk about because to do so is to challenge the civil religion, the postwar consensus, or if you prefer, the rules-based international order. Really, itâs an attack on the nationâs most cherished vibes. Everything else in history, especially wars, must be deconstructed â but WWII, (and the Civil War) are untouchable. Con Inc. spent the week proving Martyrmade right with histrionic denunciations, outright slander, and soy appeals to other great American myths. The long term result? A thousand people ordered a copy of Pat Buchananâs best book, and the groundwork has been laid for even more radical views. (

đŹCringe CornerđŹ
> This ainât Seth Dillonâs first trip to the Cringe Corner, but comparing Hitler to Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars in an attempt to reduce the moral calculus of WWII to pre-school level made us groan so loudly in public that someone asked if we were OK.
> All-time Cringe Corner champion Soros Ahmari coined a new term to describe those naughty New Right extremists who would challenge lib pieties: âThe Barbarian Right.â You know what? Weâll take it.

St. Pat's best article:

The last chance America had to right itself at the ballot box was the Republican primary of 1996. Any time I start to feel sympathy for boomers I remember that they nominated Dole instead of St. Pat, then elected Clinton.
